Mexican Mole Sauce

This delicious sauce can be ready in 20 minutes,  adding that Mexican flavor to any dish.  Serve with chicken, rice and/or topping it over your tacos, burritos or tortillas.


  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • handful fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 cup water


Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat, and cook the onion and garlic until tender. Mix in cocoa powder, sea salt and cumin. Stir in the tomato paste with water and add cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 10 minutes. Add in fresh cilantro. Pour directly over food  and serve.
